Matt Jones leads the investment strategy at Legacy Capital and also serves as financial advisor to affluent clientele throughout the United States. His areas of expertise include asset management, estate tax / wealth transfer planning and life insurance planning.
While attending law school, Matt clerked at three of Arkansas’ largest law firms before deciding his true passion was in finance and investments. He also spent part of his early career with prestigious investment banking firms Morgan Keegan, Inc. of Memphis and Stephens Inc. of Little Rock before joining Legacy Capital in 1997. His diverse background provides him a unique understanding of the relationship between financial, legal and emotional issues, as well as the family dynamics faced by affluent families in the context of their planning.
As a non-practicing member of the Arkansas Bar Association, Matt is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional and holds insurance licenses (AR Ins. License #15398; CA Ins. License #0B87780) and several securities licenses. He has been named to the Arkansas Business “Top Forty Under 40” list, has been honored by Inviting Arkansas as one of 10 “Movers and Shakers” in the state’s business community, and was recently selected by the Arkansas Money & Politics publication as one of the top financial advisors in Arkansas. Matt is also a multiple qualifier for MDRT’s exclusive Top of the Table recognizing the life insurance industry’s top advisors.
Matt received a BSBA in Financial Management from the University of Arkansas where he was a member of the Razorback tennis team and received his Juris Doctorate from the UALR Bowen School of Law. He has been active in the community, serving on several non-profit boards and ministries. He currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Baptist Health Foundation as well as Chairman of the Investment Committee. Matt lives in Little Rock and enjoys hanging out and traveling with his family as well as being staying active through tennis, golf, and cycling.
David Trent has over three decades of wealth management experience. In early 1996, David founded Trent Capital Management, a wealth management firm. After 25 years David merged his firm with Legacy Capital at the end of 2020.
David's areas of expertise include asset management, estate tax and wealth transfer planning, and retirement planning. David develops strong relationships with clients’ attorneys, tax advisors, and other professionals, working with them to help create solutions for clients.
In 1985, David graduated from Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas with a BS in Mathematical Science. He is active in the community, in particular with Life Skills for Youth, a mentor and teaching program for at risk youth.
David lives in Little Rock and enjoys being a mentor and helping others with personal development. In addition, David likes time with family and staying active through exercise and golf. David is married to Lisa and has two adult children, Carter and Avery.
Jason Prather has extensive experience in sophisticated tax and estate planning strategies and advises affluent clients nationwide in the areas of estate and gift tax, wealth transfer, life insurance planning and tax strategies. Earlier in his career, he was a partner in the tax section of Forth Worth’s prestigious Cantey & Hanger, LLP law firm. Both as attorney and financial advisor, Jason develops strong relationships with clients’ attorneys and tax advisors, working with them to help create solutions that address the often-complex relationship between the financial products and legal structures frequently utilized by wealthy families.
Bob Roberts joined Legacy Capital in 2019, after a successful 30 year career at Baptist Health. His initial role, in 1988, was Assistant Vice President of Finance. In 2008, he was promoted to Senior VP and CFO, and became Executive VP/CFO in 2014.
Having joined the firm at a critical time in its evolution, Bob is responsible for overseeing strategic growth, implementing the expansion into additional locations, and recruiting and integrating advisor teams and individual advisors into the Legacy Capital family.
Bob earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Indiana University in Trumpet Performance, and a Master of Professional Accountancy degree from Baylor University. He began his career as a CPA with KPMG and Arthur Andersen before moving on to Baptist Health.
Bob is very active as a freelance trumpeter and performs regularly with the Natural State Brass Band. He is a board member for the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. When not working or playing trumpet, Bob enjoys outdoor activities and traveling with his wife, Stacy, to visit their three adult children living in Michigan, Texas and Arizona.
Jay Gentry has been a financial services professional since 2002, spending seven years with Northwestern Mutual. He then served as the life and disability insurance specialist at Hagan-Newkirk, and most recently as partner/managing director of Chandler Advisors, responsible for the firm’s strategic growth.
Throughout his career, Jay has specialized in serving medical and dental practitioners, business owners and corporate executives, helping to ensure they have effective plans in place that address the unique needs of their professions.
Jay received a BA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in jazz studies, with an emphasis on bass performance. He later studied with classical bassist John Dahlstrand in Little Rock and France, and with the innovative funk guitarist Regi “The Teacha” Wooten in Nashville. A constant learner, Jay is currently working towards completing the requirements to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional.
Active in the community, Jay serves as president of the board of the UALR Friends of the Arts.
He lives in Little Rock with his children, Maddie and Gavin. When not working or studying, he enjoys golf, reading, and playing music at various clubs, parties, and festivals.
Jessica Heath, Financial Analyst, graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with Bachelor of Art degrees in Graphic Design and in Music. She holds the FINRA Series 7 and 66 licenses. Prior to joining TCM, Jessica was an Investment Assistant with Arvest Asset Management.
Jessica spends most of her free time playing with her daughter, Juliet. She also enjoys karaoke, painting, and reading a good book.
Casey has been with the firm since 2007 and became licensed in health and insurance at the end of 2008 (AR Ins. License #344551). As Client Service Associate, she assists in handling clients’ requests on both the investment and insurances sides of the business. She also conducts annual policy reviews, manages the client database and generally makes sure that nothing falls through the cracks.
Casey holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Central Arkansas, and spent a summer studying in Colima, Mexico. Married and the proud mother of sons Reid, Rylan, and Redmond, she enjoys the outdoors, running and cooking for her family. Casey is also active with a local women's shelter, Women & Children First, serving as a member of their "Peacekeepers" Board.
Nicole Reed, Client Relationship Specialist, graduated Cum Laude from Harding University with Bachelor of Art degrees in Communicative Disorders and Education. Prior to joining TCM, Nicole worked in the field of Speech Pathology and was most recently the Director of Corporate Operations with Wahlquist Management Corporation.
In her free time Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and children, Asher and Carys. She also enjoys reading, baking, and live music.
Savannah most recently worked in the field of Family Law as a Legal Assistant/ Paralegal.
In her free time, Savannah enjoys spending time with her fiancé and his two children, Anakae and Landn. She also enjoys spending time painting, reading, and traveling.
Jillian Shackelford joined the Legacy Capital team as the Office Administrator in September 2020. Prior to Legacy, she was the Office Manager at a mid-size, independently owned funeral home for eight years. As the Administrator for Legacy Capital, Jillian takes care of many in-house needs, including supply and maintenance orders, data and document organization, and general team support. She also assists the COO with day-to-day office management.
A native of West Tennessee, Jillian graduated from Harding University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Arts & Humanities. After graduation, she moved to Florence, Italy for a year to work with the Avanti Italia program teaching conversational English classes. There, she earned an Advanced Language Certificate in Italian from Istituto Lorenzo de’ Medici and volunteered at a local church. In addition to her deep love for all things Italian, Jillian has a passion for music and has been performing on stage her entire life. Even now, Jillian sings and plays acoustic guitar with her family’s band in Tennessee whenever she has the opportunity. She is also a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) with the Yoga Alliance and loves a good road trip with her partner, Casey, and dog, Clover (the cat prefers to stay at home)!
Morgan Sizer brings over two decades of experience within financial markets, holding senior roles within institutional proprietary trading, hedge fund management and high frequency arbitrage. His career has focused on the research, development and implementation low beta, alpha-maximizing quantitative strategies spanning a broad range of international markets and asset classes, with an emphasis on equities, equity derivatives, and currencies.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Finance from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In his spare time Morgan enjoys travelling with his family and working in his home studio finalizing audio productions for the recorded music industry.
Jessica joined the firm in 2005 and has been the Director of Underwriting since 2013. She has built relationships with the underwriting departments of all of the major carriers. Well-versed in their product offerings, Jessica makes recommendations to Legacy advisors and assists with product illustrations. After careful review and analysis of clients’ medical records, she negotiates and advocates for them with various carriers to achieve the most favorable rating and associated pricing.
Jessica holds a B.S. in Health and Applied Science from the University of Central Arkansas, and successfully completed the rigorous requirements to be a Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting (FALU). She lives in Maumelle, Arkansas with her husband and two children. In addition to attending her children's various sporting and school events, she is active with a local women's shelter, Women & Children First, serving as the President for their "Peacekeepers" Board for the 2nd year.
Jay Strickland, Director of Operations, has a B.S. degree in Economics and Masters in Finance. Jay spent 6 years at Hutchinson Ifrah Financial Services and Millennium Capital Advisors before joining TCM. He has worked in operations and portfolio management for over 20 years.
In his spare time, Jay enjoys reading, sports, and is involved in coaching youth sports and teaching youth Sunday School.
Laura Wimberly joined Legacy Capital in 2019 after working in marketing and administration for a health management company. As the Client Service Assistant for Legacy Capital, Laura manages licenses and contracts for life insurance policies, assists with cashiering needs for investments, including wires, journals, IRA distributions, and RMD’s. Laura also manages Legacy's social media platforms and website content.
Laura graduated with honors in May 2018 from Arkansas Tech University with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, with a concentration in Professional Leadership. Originally from North Little Rock, Laura purchased her Conway home in 2012 and remains a Conway resident. An avid lover of the outdoors, she enjoys jogging Central Arkansas trails and climbing Pinnacle and Petit Jean Mountain.
Lauren joined Legacy Capital in 2015 after spending eight years as office manager and portfolio administrator for a local asset management firm. She prepares and processes account paperwork, coordinates client cashiering and wire requests, assists in collecting year-end tax paperwork, and follows through on all advisor reallocation instructions. She also serves as bookkeeper and as personal assistant for two of the firm’s principals.
Originally from Benton, Lauren lives there with her husband, daughter and son.
Greg Young, a Registered Investment Advisor, began his career in the Financial Services industry in 1989. Greg is a graduate of Southern Methodist University. He formerly served as the President of the Arkansas chapter of the Society of Financial Services Professionals.
Greg and his wife, Michelle, and their daughter, Charl, live in Cabot, AR. Greg’s interests include boating, skiing and hunting.
Wes Zwiegers joined Legacy Capital in 2019, having spent the prior six years in Public Accounting at Frost PLLC and in institutional equity sales at Stephens Inc,. Wes is dedicated to serving clients in a way that will have a valuable, long-term impact on their lives.
With a double major in accounting and finance, Wes received his bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University, where he spent four years on the golf team. He and his wife, Jennifer, serve on the Spark! Committee at the Museum of Discovery. The annual Spark! Event honors those who have overcome challenges and demonstrated ability in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics.) The Spark! Stars are those in the community who inspire children to similarly strive to achieve their goals.
A dedicated golfer, Wes can generally be found on the golf course when he’s not working – or spending time with Jennifer and their dog Russie.
Kevin Clark is a Certified Public Accountant in Jonesboro and is also a Registered Investment Advisor. He has over 25 years of experience in financial services, most recently as a brokerage representative of Signator Investors and Transamerica Financial Advisors. His CPA practice caters to the self-employed and business owners with tax, bookkeeping and payroll services.
Kevin lives in Jonesboro with his wife and 2 sons. He enjoys reading, sports (watching, mostly), good clean jokes, and a little fishing when he can.
